Currently I find myself interested in how we interfere with nature and ourselves, how we create unnatural imitations of natural things, be it to control the safety, sanitary or visual aspects of where and how we exist, or to isolate the positive elements from the sublime and dangerous. We use science, technology, medicine, and man made materials to replace or improve upon what happens naturally.

Visually I am drawn to these man made structures and the choices that are made contstructively and aesthetically to replicate the atmosphere of the natural. Conceptually I am intrigued with the issues behind the impetus to improve upon nature and how that either enhances or detracts from our human experience.

My work is a physical exploration of this construction/destruction dicotomy existing both in my personal history and the environments with which I interact. I am seeking structures through anti-structures, building up and breaking down, digging, covering, revealing and highlighting. I am seeking out my own language with which to discuss the conflation of perception, reality, and imitation that has become part of our daily experience.
